At the Blues Capital Foundation, we believe music, education, culture, and opportunity can change lives.

Rooted in Chicago and inspired by the extraordinary legacy of the Blues, we create programs that introduce young people to music and history, support students pursuing higher education, celebrate the cultural contributions of our communities, and provide experiences that inspire the next generation.

Our work is about more than preserving the past. We use our history to help build the future.

 We introduce young people to the power and history of the Blues through hands-on musical experiences.

Through drumming workshops, songwriting, live performances, music history, and instruction from professional musicians and artists, young people have opportunities to discover their creativity and develop an appreciation for the music that Chicago gave to the world.

 Our programs also introduce young people to STEM concepts and demonstrate how music, technology, creativity, and innovation intersect. 

The Willie Dixon Family Summer Camp brings music, education, history, creativity, and recreation together in an unforgettable experience for young people and families.

Camp activities include songwriting, drum circles, visual arts, Blues history, live music, games, and other experiences designed to build confidence, encourage creativity, and introduce a new generation to the legacy of legendary Chicago Blues artist Willie Dixon. 

Education is one of the most important investments we can make in the future.

Through programs including the Dr. Oladeinde Scholarship and the Kofi Scholarship, the Blues Capital Foundation works to help deserving students overcome financial barriers and continue their education.

Our scholarship initiatives support students pursuing careers in medicine, business, and other fields while encouraging academic achievement, leadership, and service to their communities.

Chicago Blues is more than music. It is history.

Its influence can be heard around the world in rock & roll, soul, jazz, R&B, and countless other forms of music. We work to preserve that history, celebrate the artists who created it, and make sure their stories are shared with future generations.

We believe young people learn by experiencing the world around them.

The Blues Capital Foundation works with schools, libraries, community organizations, artists, educators, cultural institutions, and other partners to create meaningful educational and cultural experiences.

Whether a child is picking up an instrument, meeting an artist, visiting an important Chicago institution, attending a cultural event, or discovering a new career possibility, exposure creates possibilities.
